The Stove Won't Come On

If your reliable range won't ignite, check the connection at the wall outlet. You may be in a condition of fear if a cord suddenly disconnects while you're preparing supper for the family because of vibration, temperature fluctuations, or worn-out outlets. We only have to move the stove out of the way of the outlet, and the problem is solved. Pull the plug out of the wall outlet. Push the plug back into the socket to reconnect the cable. If the plug moves about in the outlet, it may be time to get a new one.

Element of the Burner Disconnected

The burner element may get dislodged from the termination socket with time and usage. Inadequate heating, if any, will result from a loose element. Turn off the burner and check the socket for any corrosion or damage. Reconnect the burner's plug, making sure it fits snugly. There may be a problem with the terminal socket if your burner wobbles. We test the connection by inserting a known-to-fit burner into the terminal socket. If none of the burners would light, it is likely due to a faulty terminal socket, which will need replacement.

Burner or Plug Malfunction

Burners may break or become defective, rendering them ineffective in producing heat. If this is the case, a simple and low-cost solution is to replace the complete burner. If just one burner is not heating, we may test for a defective burner by switching it with another of the same size; if the problem persists with both burners, the issue is likely with your socket. We ensure the burner isn't bent or uneven, as it won't generate heat, and check the connection between the burner and the socket to make sure it's working.

Misaligned Knob

A damaged knob on a burner will prevent the stove from getting the "signal" that the burner should be heated. We start by checking to see whether your knob is loose or has become uneven. Is it difficult to turn or does it get stuck? To see whether the knob is working, we take it off and use professional pliers on the metal switch below, we do not recommend you try this yourself. If it doesn't work, we test by swapping out the different knobs. However, if the damage extends to the wiring connecting the knob to the control panel, the fix could be more involved.
